    Jane Took is a British Artist painting in oils based on the beautiful Yorkshire Coast at Filey. A Farmers daughter the local flora and fauna provide inspiration for much of her work which is highly realistic often mistaken as being photographic.

    I class myself as a plastic activist and promote the devastating effects plastic has on the environment through my work. I own a Zero-Waste shop called Buy the Kilo and promote these issues through exhibitions that I curate in our small Gallery Space. working with like minded Artists.

    Having been an artist since I was little, I practised properly as a professional artist since 2020. I studied at Dumfries and Galloway college doing Art and Design at HND level I went on to study at home on self portraits, I practise daily my technique and my love for the female form. I was a model between 16-25 years old, and have the same outlook that the female body is beautiful.

    I've worked as a freelance documentary photographer since leaving Art School in 1968. My final year project on A.S. Neill and his democratic school, Summerhill, was published as a Penguin Education Special in 1969. My work is at the National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain Library, the National Art Library at the V&A, the V&A Museum of Childhood and la Bibliothèque nationale de France.

    I am a New Zealand born painter and filmmaker living and working on the Isle of Man. I have a BA in Religious Studies, and an MA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins. My work has a strong relationship to place, particularly locations that are considered sacred, as well as symbolic, and often archaic representations of natural phenomena.

    My practice is muti-disciplinary but a unifying starting point for most of my work is print or collage. I am an artist and educator interested in the social applications of art. I like to create work that is playful and invites interaction in some way. Ritual, play, wonder, performance, perceptions of reality and imagined narratives are all important themes within my practice.

    I am a ceramist who uses unorthodox methods in my work, also I use mixed mediums in the ceramics They are all hand made and glazed.     I am interested in exploring photography as ‘Inframedium’, playing with the boundaries of the photographic object, its material ‘nature’ and the visual possibilities that exist within it. Stripping away the ‘Apparatus’ of the camera and thus stepping out of the arena of the technical image, I am exploring a different set of gestures with which to reveal the material’s phenomenological potential.
