    I am a contemporary artist and jewellery maker in Leeds. I graduated in 2020 from the Uni of Leeds School of Design. I craft chainmail into lace-like patterns to create wearable works and sculpture which are made to express my ideas around gender. I have exhibited with the Crafts Council and I am an alumni of their 2021 Crafting Business Programme supported by Crafting Europe.

    Hi I’m Kate. I generally use a wide range of media to draw, paint and sculpt my work. I also tend towards abstract or realistic with occasional pieces in the middle ground. Ever since I fell ill with hashimoto’s my life has been one medical battlefield to another. I nearly lost my life three times. Now I’m a Zebra (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) and am finally back doing something I love, creating.

    Shapes jump out at me. Encouraged by my own stereo blindness, shapes that could be seen as a face or body, merge and spring from anywhere. In nature, in the studio or reading a magazine, these pareidolic face experiences influence my collages, photographs and paintings. They explore the flatness of my perception and the depth of what seems to be reality.

    I have been raising money for Cancer Research UK via Relay for Life since 2010 with our team #quiltofhopecornwall for my 60th birthday I was gifted a Polymer Clay course plus a fabulous kit. I am constantly build my skills, repertoire and kit to create hand crafted items for fundraising.

    I am an energetic multi disciplinary artist, who is at ease in performance and with a background in painting and music and i create moving image work from performative actions that weave together sound and painting with gesture and movement.     I create jewellery in sterling silver, argentium silver and gold. My inspiration comes from organic shapes and from fractal patterns. I also create limited edition intaglio prints based on fractals.
