    I grew up in the ancient port of Whitby, in northern England which sits between the North Yorkshire Moors and the North Sea. This dramatic environment has influenced my art as much as my multi-ethnic ancestry and popular culture. As do the conflicts within our existence: light and dark; life and death; imprisonment and freedom; censorship and expression.

    I am a London-based artist who graduated from City and Guilds with an MA in Fine Art in September 2023. I finished my BA at Wimbledon College of Arts in 2015 where I studied Technical Arts.     I am an artist currently exploring print making, mainly relief printing with linoleum. The dining room in my little Lincolnshire cottage doubles as my studio. I have always been interested in the medium but had only dabbled in it in the past. However, in 2020 I had the opportunity to explore and experiment uninterrupted. My printmaking practice has now extended to other forms of printmaking.

    Based in Sheffield, England I have been a professional artist since graduating in Fine Art (painting and printmaking) in 1998. I have worked in various artist studios around Yorkshire and worked on a diverse range of projects from commissions to specialist art workshops. Throughout college and university painting has always been the driving force behind my work.

    I'm principally a photography-based practitioner with subject matter that's rooted in nature. Whilst my skillset, developed over 20 -odd years, lies in photography, my creative instincts are much broader and, since going full-time, I'm increasingly exploring areas beyond the camera.     Derby based artist Nicki Dennett creates multi-layered, mixed media prints inspired by life around her. Nicki’s continual observation of her environment and an appreciation of all aspects of existence inspire her work. Research and development of materials are key to my work and continually filling sketchbooks are often the idea basis for my handmade prints.
