PIECE TOGETHER
Deadline: 15/08/2025City: Scarborough | Region: North Yorkshire | Country: United Kingdom | British Association for Modern Mosaic Ltd
This is an invitation to all BAMM members to take part in BAMM's upcoming exhibition, PIECE TOGETHER. Members are invited to submit one or more pieces of mosaic work, 30cm x 30cm in size. It is intended that all works will be for sale.
The exhibition forms part of the 2025 BAMM Forum which will take place in Scarborough, North Yorkshire from 3rd to 5th October 2025. Piece Together will run for six weeks, in Woodend Gallery and Studios, The Crescent, Scarborough. The opening event will be held in the evening of Friday 3rd October from 7.30pm.
The theme of the exhibition is inspired by the overall theme of the forum, COLLABORATION, which can be interpreted in its widest sense. Your inspiration could come from connections with people, wildlife, plants, nature, geology or weather; with architecture, transport, work or homes; or with hopes, dreams or delights.
Your mosaic could be figurative, illustrative or abstract in design but should involve some form of collaboration.
There are many ways in which you might choose to adopt the theme of collaboration in the creation of your mosaic(s). Artists could, for example, invite another BAMM member or a small group of BAMM members to work with them.
Artists who are not part of a regional BAMM group could check the BAMM website for other mosaicists with whom they'd like to strike up a connection. The collaboration could take any form, from conversations to physically working together.
The exhibition co-ordinators will help any artists who are struggling to find someone with whom to collaborate. so please get in touch using the 'Contact Curator' tab if you would like help or suggestions.
Other forms of collaboration might involve artists swapping materials with another mosaicist, or the mosaics themselves might depict or be inspired by some form of collaboration.
There will also be an online make-along event at 7 pm on Thursday, 22nd May, where you can start making your mosaic alongside other artists. Check the BAMM website and social media for further details of this event.
Size and format
Mosaics should be created on either thin wedi-type board or 6mm plywood/MDF and must not be framed. Overall measurements must be 30cm x 30cm. All raw edges should be finished with a layer of grout, cement or other edging to ensure that pieces are suitable for a public space and that there are no sharp protrusions.
No hanging fixings should be attached. Exhibition co-ordinators will glue each mosaic to a piece of plywood with D-rings attached. Note, this will be permanent.
Any works sold will be subject to 20% commission charged by the gallery, so please build this into your sale price.
A free online event has been set up for Thursday, 22nd May, at 7 pm, where you can find out more about the exhibition, ask any questions you might have, discuss ideas or simply set aside time to work on your exhibition piece.
Tickets are available here via Eventbrite and more information can be found on the BAMM website.

You should also include a short paragraph for each submission explaining how it relates to the theme of collaboration and/or confirming what form your collaboration has taken. If you have collaborated with another mosaicist, please name them.
You should also include a short paragraph with a concise bio or 'mosaic CV' which can be used inthe exhibition listing.
The submission fee is £25 per mosaic, reduced to £15 per mosaic for student members. This fee covers the cost of hanging and return postage and is non-refundable.

The deadline for delivery of work to Yorkshire Artspace is Friday 12th September 2025.
Each mosaic must be accompanied by a separate adhesive label still on its its backing paper with the artist's name, contact information, and title, and a second adhesive label showing price inclusive of 20% gallery commission.
The exhibition co-ordinators will peel these labels off their backing paper and attach them to the reverse of the mosaic once the plywood and fixings have been attached.
Please note that BAMM’s public liability insurance does not cover your work, either in transit or during the exhibition. Artists should make their own arrangements to insure their work against damage or loss.
Work that is delivered late, has an incorrect size or format, or that does not fit the brief may not be included. We will not be able to refund the exhibition fee for works which do not meet these clearly stated criteria. We will, of course, return the works in these circumstances.
The exhibition opens on the evening of Friday 3rd October and runs until Friday 14th November.
Unsold work will be returned by post in the days following the exhibition. Sold work will be posted to the purchaser. Please note, the entry fee will cover the cost of posting back exhibits to artists within the UK only.
Any BAMM exhibitors requiring their work to be returned or delivered to a purchaser at an address outside the UK must make a special arrangement with the BAMM Exhibition Team and be ready to cover all the additional costs involved.
We are really looking forward to seeing the many diverse and experimental new mosaics in this exhibition. It will be a celebration of mosaic and will bring great new friendships through collaboration. The exhibition opening will be a wonderful evening to view and share our work.
It launches this year's forum, which will be an exciting weekend of mosaic frolics including talks from contemporary mosaic artist Rachel Sager, Turner prize winning Jeremy Deller and others . T
here will be a mosaic market, a community make and a walking tour of the Wild Eye, Invisible Dust project and local mosaic commissions. Not to mention our evening event with live band and raffle.
It’s all happening on the weekend of 3rd-5th October 2025. We hope to see lots of our BAMM family there. Link to tickets going live very soon!
