Call for Artists: ‘Botanical & Floral Art' Exhibition – August 2025. Open Gallery is inviting submissions of original artworks on the theme ‘Botanical & Floral Art’ for a vibrant summer exhibition in August 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for UK-based artists to showcase their work at the Open Gallery in Halifax and connect with a new audience.

Botanical & Floral Art Open Call invites artists to submit 2D and 3D artworks that celebrate the beauty and diversity of botanical and floral subjects through the lens of nature.

This exhibition welcomes works that explore the essence, emotion, and atmosphere of plant life—whether capturing the vivid colours of summer blooms, the intricate details of leaves and petals, or the personal memories and moods evoked by nature’s flora.

All interpretations and creative approaches to botanical and floral themes are encouraged.

Key Dates

Deadline to apply: Monday, 7 July 2025
Notification of selection: Tuesday, 8 July 2025
Delivery of artwork: Between 9 – 19 July 2025
Exhibition dates: 6 – 9 & 20 - 23 August 2025
Opening event: Wednesday, 6 August, 5–7 pm

Who Can Apply

We welcome submissions from any UK-based artist working in 2D or 3D media who can arrange delivery and collection of their work to/from the gallery in Halifax.

Accepted Media


Painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, jewellery, artists’ books, mixed media, etc.

Submit up to three artworks

Provide a short description (max. 250 words) of your work and how it connects to the theme ‘Botanical & Floral Art’. This will be included in the exhibition catalogue.
Include price (or mark NFS if not for sale)

Include dimensions in cm (including frame if applicable)

Fees & Sales


Free to apply

If selected, a £30 participation fee per artist applies

A 20% commission will be taken on sales to cover administrative costs

The participation fee helps support the exhibition and directly benefits participating artists by increasing their exposure, through inclusion in a professionally printed catalogue, features on our website and on our Instagram account (with over 1,700 followers), and the opportunity to connect with fellow artists during the exhibition and opening event.

The fee also helps us keep the gallery running as an accessible space for artists and the local community.

Selected works will be:


Exhibited in Open Gallery, Halifax (4a Broad St Plaza, Halifax HX1 1UX), a new location in a prime spot to attract visitors.
Featured on our website and social media
Included in a printed exhibition catalogue

By submitting, you agree that your images may be used in promotional materials (social media, flyers, posters, etc.).

About Us


Open Gallery, founded in 2022, is a local, independent art space in Halifax dedicated to showcasing contemporary visual art across a wide range of media.

Run by a small, passionate team, the gallery aims to support emerging and established artists by providing inclusive opportunities to exhibit work and connect with new audiences.

Our newly relocated space at Broad Street Plaza offers a vibrant, accessible setting in the heart of Halifax, designed to engage the local community and attract art lovers from across the region.

The gallery is open Wednesday–Saturday, 11 am–4 pm.
