  Back to profiles

Sabina Silver is a British-Ghanaian visual artist based between Amsterdam and Amsterdam. Working with acrylic, oil pastels, and pigment inks, her self-taught practice explores the emotional landscape of diasporic life—moving between tension and ease, memory and imagination.

My practice explores how emotion (particularly tension, unease, and rest) can be mapped through visual form. Working primarily in painting, I explore what it means to hold softness and ease in bodies shaped by anxiety or displacement. The work is focused on the subtle space between internal feeling and collective experience. I use materials like acrylic, oil pastels, and pigment inks to build textured portraits that reflect both vulnerability and restraint. While rooted in personal memory, the work opens outwards, asking questions about what it means to feel, carry, or release.
